Omari Rashid Nundu (Born 6th August 1948), an Aeronautic Engineer, and the former President of the Air Navigation Commission at the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) based in Montreal (Canada) has been appointed as the Minister of Transport for the United Republic of Tanzania. Prior to his appointment to the cabinet, Mr. Nundu, was declared the winner in the Tanga Urban constituency elections. According to the Tanzania National Electoral Commission (NEC), Mr. Nundu of the ruling party (CCM) received 40, 225, while his opponents from CUF Received 24, 262, CHADEMA 5750, and UDP 429.
Prior to entering the Tanzanian legislature, Mr. Nundu served as the president of the Air Navigation Commission at ICAO from 2007 to 2009, and a permanent representative of the United Republic of Tanzania to the same organization from 2003 to 2010. He is also the founder and former President of Montreal Tanzanians Association (MTA) between 2007- 2009. He is married with four children. |
